According to Young, the concept of the space is loosely based on a bar he created last year at his office in Shekou, Shenzhen.

“Last year I ended up with a bar to create a bar below our studio, but with just a few weeks to build the concept I decided to throw away everything I could get my hands on – samples, prototypes and studio stuff we collected from around the world,” said the British. designer based in Hong Kong for Dezeen.

“I basically assembled a studio like a magpie, so it became a real beer hut and a place that wasn’t designed, but created organically.”

The dark gray exterior walls of the space are decorated with swirling patterns based on graphics on cans and Beer Buddy bottles.

Colorful versions of this pattern were used to add a splash of paint to the interior walls and enclose private seating areas.

The space is co-branded with the Young studio logo and the Chinese version of the Dezeen logo. There is also a QR code on the walls for people to follow Dezeen’s official WeChat account, which contains news and features about the latest architecture, design and interiors written in Simplified Chinese.
