Kelly Wearstler launches the 2021 collection – Transcendence – full of furniture, decor and lighting that explore materiality and evoke proportions in every piece. It is a celebration of the unexpected that captures the energy of Southern California through elegance and whimsy.
I find tension in each piece, balancing the familiar with the unexpected in order to create something that simultaneously attracts and provides a new perspective.
– Kelly Wearstler
Remaining true to her belief in the importance of respecting history, location, and architecture, Wearstler teamed up with a network of artisans and artisans to revive her concepts for Transcendence. Many are based on SoCal, providing the possibility of close collaboration that pushes constraints, while at the same time guaranteeing that each piece includes a touch of California cool.
The spring 2021 collection includes eight series of furniture, six lighting lines and several decorating items. One of the highlights is the Oblique series, inspired by the dining table in stripes. Here you will find tables of different shapes and sizes, made of hardwood from angular cutting, which is hand-picked and laminated. Another favorite is the Colina furniture series, full of modern organic design. It was made by local artisans in Los Angeles and features hand-molded resin, a walnut interior and a gypsum-like exterior finish. If you are looking for a unique side or cocktail table, the Triad series offers something unique. They have irregular silhouettes covered with brass sheets, bent and welded to cover marble shapes with hand-waxed patina. All in all, Transcendence is a further extension of Wearstler’s multi-layered approach to design that we all loved.
